Silky Apple, High St, Armadale, Melbourne

The Silky Apple in Armadale has been the same for decades. Fairly ordinary decor, immaculate and sometimes snooty staff and Yum Cha to live for - not to die for!! You sit down and get swarmed by staff who bombard you with scrummy delicacies from all angles. Eat until you pop or 3pm, whichever comes first. We lingered after 3pm last Sunday and suddenly realised we were surrounding by quietly-disapproving waiters ready to clear the table for the evening sitting. It felt like they had turned the air-conditioning up as well - fantastic work. Haven't seen that since the old days of the Tok H, where the heating was full blast all night to keep you swilling, then it was like a blizzard at 3am when they wanted you out. Glad to see the tradition lives on!
